Our last stop is Steenberg. Steenberg, known as Swaaneweide in 1682, is almost certainly the oldest farm in the Constantia valley, even older than Groot Constantia. In the early days table grapes were its main export. The history of this farm is virtually inseparable from that of a formidable woman, Trijin Ras. The homestead we see today was built in 1740.
